Before anyone tastes the food, they experience the atmosphere—and Avangard offers plenty to take in. We started the shoot by capturing the restaurant’s inviting exterior, cozy interior touches, and the team in action. These kinds of behind-the-scenes and ambiance shots help followers feel a connection to the space and the people, making the dining experience more personal and authentic.
The Food
Next, we turned our focus to the stars of the show: the food. Every dish was styled and shot to highlight its textures, colors, and personality—ideal for social media posts that stop the scroll. Whether it’s a bold entrée or a delicate dessert, these images do more than just look good—they tell the story of Avangard’s culinary craft.
While photographing the menu at Avangard, I also got to experience some of the dishes myself—and they left a lasting impression. I watched chef Leo prepare pasta carbonara the traditional Italian way: no cream, no ham—just quality pasta tossed with eggs, Pecorino Romano, guanciale, and plenty of freshly cracked black pepper. Simple, honest, and absolutely delicious.
Croquettes are everywhere in Spain—on every menu and even in supermarket freezers—but I’d never really understood the hype. So I asked to try Avangard’s handmade Iberian ham croquettes, hoping to finally “get it.” And I did. Crisp on the outside, soft and creamy inside, and full of deep, savory flavor—they completely won me over.
I’d also gone over six months in Tenerife without trying an octopus dish, so I chose the Golden Fried Octopus from the menu. It was perfectly tender, served with small wrinkled potatoes (a local specialty), crisp vegetables, and a touch of spicy chorizo. A beautifully balanced plate that was as satisfying as it was photogenic.
The Terrace
What better way to show off your restaurant than with real people enjoying what you serve? On Avangard’s sunny terrace, we photographed guests savoring oysters, sipping champagne, and relaxing with seafood and wine in hand. These lifestyle shots give potential customers a taste of what it’s like to dine here—elevated, relaxed, and worth the visit.
As a food photographer working with restaurants around the world, I don’t always leave shoots wanting to come back as a guest. But Avangard truly stood out from the many tourist-oriented spots in Tenerife. From the first conversation with the client to the shoot on location, I was impressed by the clear communication, warm atmosphere, and the professionalism of every staff member I encountered.
The quality of the food and service lived up to the promise made by the restaurant’s elegant exterior and thoughtful interior design.
